Okay, the viewpoint character is on the darker side of european colouring when she isn't tanned, and tans to north african or a bit darker.
That said here's her fragmented description of a character who doesn't know his parents, and has no way of finding anything about them out (she calls them gene donors becase 'parent' is someone who puts the time and effort into raising a child). In my head he's a mix of north european and african, so is this realistic?
She gripped his hair, the black curls just long enough for her to clench in her fist...
...amber eyes alight with pleasure.
...skin just a touch paler than hers, but with a translucency and dark undertone that revealed more than he probably knew about his gene donors and their ancestry.

Date: 2011-10-15 11:32 am (UTC)The way you describe him it sounds as if there is some Ethiopian in his gene pool. A very nice description, by the way.
I've known some Ethiopians and they were always wondering how it comes that their skin tones are considered 'dark african' when Europeans can get so much darker than them.
