Date: 2007-05-22 08:41 am (UTC)1) When he was thirteen, shortly after his first wet dream Hojo gave Sephiroth a lecture on 'safe sex' as applied to SOLDIERs and other enhanced humans. It included clinical photographs of the sort of damage Gregori did to the women (and occasionally men) he picked up in the slums and left Sephiroth determined never to have sex with anyone who wasn't a SOLDIER or equally enhanced. Especially since Hojo finished with an order to send any females he had sex with to Hojo when he'd finished with them, if they survived, in case they might be breeding.
1a) One of the points in the 'safe sex' for SOLDIERs lecture was that you can't catch STDs (or most other diseases) from anyone with a lower level of Mako in their blood than you, which is one of the reasons Hojo takes any excuse he can get to give Cloud a physical, to make sure he won't have any chance of infecting Sephiroth with something. It's also why you receive a physical on declaring your intention to enter the next SOLDIER Entrance Exams, six months in advance.
2) This Sephiroth has a fundamental sense that he is inferior to other people, all other people, because he's been raised since birth with the awareness that he is a piece of property not a person. It makes for some interesting dichotomies when he thinks about the fact that he commands an army, but his quarterly visits to the labs reinforce his status in his mind.
3) Angeal was Sephiroth's first lover, Sephiroth was the one to make the first move and he just assumed sex was supposed to hurt for the one being taken. A combination of the fear of himself Hojo instilled with the lecture described in point 1) and his sense of inferiority described in point 2) kept Sephiroth from asking if Angeal would let him return the favour, and then he realised how much attention Angeal paid to him when he took Sephiroth, attention that Angeal didn't seem to expect him to return and how that made him feel like a real person. In addition one of the reasons Sephiroth bottomed at first was a reaction to Gregori’s ‘real men don’t get fucked’ attitude.

Date: 2007-05-23 01:34 pm (UTC)2) At nineteen when he was accepted into the new experimental SOLDIER programme Angeal was shaping up to be a career NCO and his reason for applying was purely pragmatic; a man who's stronger and faster than other men an an order of magnitude is far more likely to survive in battle. Gregori was a seventeen year old cherry lieutenant fresh out of Officer Candidate School, at twenty-three Raven was already a mustang, promoted to lieutenant from sergeant and Hayden was the youngest, brought directly into the SOLDIER programme from basic training at fifteen because he was incredibly good at hand to hand.
2a) This, incidently, was one of the reasons Angeal complained the least out of the four survivors of the first generation SOLDIER enhancement process when they learned their first assignment would be mostly training one 'boy', who was intended to become ShinRa's General. Making snot-nosed brats into officers is one of the things career NCOs do.
3) Until Sephiroth Angeal had always bottomed when he was with men (without really enjoying it that much, which is why he'd only done that once or twice), limited his relationships with men to handjobs and oral sex, or stuck to women, who could handle his size better. So when Sephiroth made it clear he either expected or wanted to bottom, at least that first time, he made sure to be very careful, and pay enough attention to the kid that he wouldn't hurt him more than he couldn't avoid. All that first year he expected Sephiroth to ask him for a chance to switch rolls, but when that didn't happen Angeal started to realise how much he preferred to top. So when Zck joined them there simply wasn't any question in his mind; the newcomer could top with Sephiroth, but he would bottom for Angeal.

Date: 2007-05-25 02:24 pm (UTC)1) Aeris' time in Hojo's lab wasn't as bad as you'd expect, certainly not as bad as what Sephiroth and Ifalna had to deal with. She was monitored and tested far more intensively than most children would be, but the tests weren't invasive, or for the most part painful. Hojo wasn't that interested in a mongrel pre-pubescent child when he also had an adult full Cetra female to work on. And Sephiroth treated her almost like a pet or a sibling, sometimes even managing to protect her.
1a) Hojo fully intended to breed Sephiroth to Aeris as a result of this, although he planned on two levels to the programme; an artifical insemination procedure, except he intended to have fully human females carry those children, and 'live-cover' where Aeris was intended to be Sephiroth's trophy wfe.
2) When Aeris was informed that they'd found some samples taken from Ifalna while investigating Hojo's labs, including an ovary and what looked like the remains of an unsuccessful effort at cloning her, she insisted on the remains receiving a proper burial, with a full funeral, since her mother didn't get a funeral while she was hiding from Hojo.
2a) If he'd had the chance Sephiroth would have made sure those samples were non-viable, but since he only learned about them just before he was sent to Wutai, and wasn't summoned back to the lab before the Restoration the Cetra had to see to that.
3) Aeris knew how to meditate by the time she was five, but she can't remember learning, and to this day she meditates more to help her filter out the Planet's voice than to hear it.

Date: 2007-06-30 09:06 am (UTC)2) Jean-Claude can't quite understand how lenient Anita is with him, how little she punishes him, and how light it is when she does punish him, although he's very grateful for that leniency and he can understand the reasons behind every punishment he's received from her.
2a) He also doesn't quite understand why Anita allowed him to forbid her to have full sex with Damian, or how he knew that he was a potential mate, and if he can't persuade Anita to give him another child to secure her immortality a bit better soon he'll bring up that idea instead. He thinks of children as unlikely to survive until they reach three years old, even knowing how much less likely it is for children to die young in modern times.
3) The Traveller was the one who explained the concepts of 'mate' and 'Sire' to the American government, and he brought Jean-Claude along as part of the delegation to do that. Jean-Claude found it very disturbing just how interested the senators they spoke to were when it came to the rights a Sire has over his mates.
3a) Even though the Mate Laws are a codification of vampire law and tradition when it comes to mates Jean-Claude found them draconian even before he knew what he is.

Kids, now that Regulus has given up his own daughter for Jean-Claude to effectively adopt. And Anita's going to be fairly uninvolved with raising their daughters, or at least she won't do anything to undermine Jean-Claude's authority over them. Anita doesn't flaunt her power over Jean-Claude anyway or at least I don't think I've written her as doing so.
How is Anita going to punish JC when their child grows up? Wouldn't it be terribly awkward?

And so, I'd be really interested to find out three facts about the Cloud in that fic, please.

Date: 2007-08-17 08:34 am (UTC)1) Until Tifa's accident Cloud was only invited to join what the other children were doing when it was something they weren't supposed to be doing, and they wanted a scapegoat if they got caught. As a result he was seen as a troublemaker. But after the accident he was actively shunned, only his mother would even acknowledge his presence positively or for more than the moments it took to drive him away - usually violently, and other children were punished if they were caught around him.
2) Cloud spent so much extra time practising because he thought he needed it to keep up with the rest of his cadet class, and he believed that even with his extra training he wasn't good enough to be accepted into the filter units, and he was shocked that Sephiroth had decided to focus on him. So shocked that he protested to the teacher who broke the news to him, and that's when he learned he was already in the top third of the class.
2a) Cloud still attributes a lot of his ability to the fact that Sephiroth is his sponsor and the extra teaching that gives him access to. For instance he's convinced that without Sephiroth teaching him to use a materia unslotted he'd only perceive the standard spells.
3) Cloud doesn't understand what Sephiroth gets out of being so submissive. He'd fully expected that Sephiroth would be the one to take him, but he'd never wanted the sort of things Sephiroth asks for, even if he's willing to do whatever it take to make Sephiroth feel as good about their relationship as he does.

Date: 2007-08-22 05:40 pm (UTC)1a) Hojo gave Sephiroth some sort of present for his birthday every year, usually something which would help towards the purpose he was made for, for instance Sephiroth got his first sword as a birthday gift when he was five, but sometimes just something he wanted such as the leather pants he was given when he was ten. And Hojo never did any experiments on Sephiroth on his birthday unless it couldn't be avoided.
2) When Hojo discovered that some people simply didn't respond at all to Mako ShinRa authorised a 'test to destruction' experiment, with people snatched from the slums rather than soldiers, to find out if those people could be enhanced to any useful degree by Mako before dying. The answer was no, and the man who died from Mako poisoning after giving Sephiroth a blowjob was the last survivor of the experiment, and he had so much Mako in his system by then that any additional Mako would have pushed him over the edge into dying from it.
3) What Sephiroth doesn't consciously remember is that he was thirteen the first time he received a blowjob. From when he was nine he was restrained for some experiments and tests, and the frequency with which he was restrained only increased as he grew older. About a month after Hojo started giving him the hormones mentioned in point 1) a lab tech called Uchiha performed oral sex on Sephiroth while he was restrained, including sliding a finger into him to put pressure on his prostate. Hojo caught him just as Sephiroth climaxed, and he was furious, questioning Sephiroth about exactly when this had started. He gave Uchiha a furious lecture about not damaging Sephiroth's ablity to serve as a weapon and threatened him with joining Hojo's experimental subjects if he did anything like this again...then made sure Sephiroth wouldn't remember what had just happened.

Date: 2007-09-18 08:31 am (UTC)2) Youko was celibate for the first two hundred years after he was freed by his last Patron before Shuuichi, the one who made sure he knew how to use his plant manipulation, and then he fell in lust/love with Sai, partly because Sai was totally unthreatening, and didn’t even see Youko sexually, or anyone else sexually for that matter.
2a) Youko returned to the Makai immediately after Sai was disgraced; he offered to take Sai with him, but he couldn’t promise Sai the safety he would have needed to accept that sort of offer, or any hope of playing Go against anyone but Youko himself.
3) Youko built up his incredible reputation as dangerous to cross by being very ruthless, even by the standards of the Makai (the ‘civilised’ parts especially), and by using kitsune trickery to make up for his lack of power. It never occurred to him to put the sort of dedicated effort Hiei or Shuuichi, or even Yuusuke and Kuwabara used to gain power as rapidly as they did, so instead he settled for a typical kitsune power development pattern, albeit a bit faster then usual, since he didn’t have a clan to fall back on for support.

Date: 2007-09-28 08:43 am (UTC)Yes it is. It's just Reno and Rufus are both reluctant to 'talk' to me. I do know that Reno was enhanced the same way Zack was: when ShinRa fell Hojo escaped and almost as an act of spite he made sure as many children as he could get his hands on were given mako injections, enhancing them and condemning them to life in slavery. Any way, here's what I've got on rufus.
1) Rufus was 8-10 at the Cetra Restoration, and his father was killed during it, so he was interviewed by five healer caste Cetra to determine whether he could be trusted with any opportunity to gain personal power. they concluded that he couldn't, that he'd use any chance he had of gaining personal power to incite rebellion, and he'd be a focus of loyalty for any Turks who still lived. So there were two options, he could be killed, the option the temporary leadership favoured, or condemned to slavery for the rest of his life, and denied any chance to rise in position. Cloud had heard about Rufus from Sephiroth, and wanted him to live, so he ended up being Cloud's playmate and whipping boy until cloud was 14, old enough to start taking on adult responsibilities.
1a) This does not mean that Rufus wasn't expected to work as well as serve as Cloud's playmate. Except for when Cloud sent for him he did scut work, taking messages, inventory, cleaning, that sort of thing, and he was punished if he was late, or insolent, or if he screwed up, as well as sometimes if the messages he delivered upset their reciepients.
2) The first time he was raped was two days after Cloud's 14th birthday. It isn't the first time he's had sex, that was earlier, and consensual, but no one cares that he was raped, and he doesn't feel comfortable telling anyone with the power to stop it, because he can't quite believe anyone but Cloud would care, and he was forbidden to set foot in Cloud's quarters again when Cloud turned 14. (Cloud probably doesn't know about that, but he isn't really friends with Rufus, more acquaintances by the time he's 14 anyway.)
3) There are other slaves in positions a bit like Rufus', it's just even they outrank him, and often take their frustrations out on him. He's seen that sometimes slaves in that sort of position were lucky enough to have a protector, someone who has exclusive sexual access to them, and keps the others off them in return, and he dreams of finding someone who'd be willing to do that for him. He sometimes fantasized about that person being Tseng, but he knew that was impossible, and he was extremely grateful when he realised Reno wanted to keep him. But he also thought it was a bit too good to be true when Reno got the power to actually do that, especially since as Aeris' bodyguard (replacing Zack when he becomes her consort) he could be killed 'in the line of duty' so to speak, putting Rufus back into the same position he's been in since Cloud's 14th birthday.
